Do I need Visa?
A visa is required when travelling to Tanzania, both on vacation or volunteering work. Currently, this can be obtained at arrival airports and border crossings and is valid for 90 days.It can also be purchased online before arrival through the link below https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa. Be aware this process can take 2 -3 weeks. A valid passport is mandatory. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you expect to leave Tanzania.
Getting to Tanzania?
Most visitors access Tanzania by plane. And the closest Airport is Kilimanjaro (KIA/JRO) there are frequent direct and indirect flights to Tanzania by numerous international airlines, includes KLM, Emirates, Qatar, Turkish Airlines among others. Pick-ups are provided from Kilimanjaro Airport, please inform us prior to arrival.
What if I have dietary requirement?
Most dietary requirements can be organized provided we request them well in advance.
We need to know about allergies too – gluten -lactose – peanuts etc.
Currency
The Tanzanian unit of currency is the Tanzanian Shilling – only available in Tanzania, TZS or TSHS 1.00 TZS. 1.00 USD = 2,200.00 TZS there are many ATM’s around town you can easily withdraw cash. On the other hand, you can bring US dollar or Euros and exchange this in one of the Banks
CREDIT CARDS: Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted.
What is the electric current in Tanzania?
230/240 volts AC, 50 Hz. Plugs are square 3-pin.
Do I need vaccinations for Tanzania?
Proof of YELLOW FEVER vaccination is required only if you are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. This does not include the US. If you are traveling from a country other than the US, check this list to see if you may be required to get the yellow fever vaccine: Countries with risk of yellow fever virus (YFV) transmission.
MALARIA: There is no formal requirement to take precautions against MALARIA but it is highly recommended that you do.
We suggest you see a health-care provider or consult with your physician at least 4–6 weeks before your trip to allow time for your vaccines to take effect.
What should I pack for my trip to Tanzania?
Comfortable casual wash and wear clothes are recommended. The less you take the better. Muted colors such as stone, khaki, beige or brown are recommended when you are on safari. Game drives in the early morning and evenings can BE VERY COLD especially in winter so you must pack accordingly.

Respect culture and do not wear offensive attire;
- You will need to cover shoulders in town and at projects
- Shorts/ skirts should be at least knee length in town and at projects
- Avoid see-through materials in town and at projects

- Light weight shirts/blouses with long sleeves as protection from the sun and mosquitos

- A wide brimmed hat with under-chin tie to prevent it from flying away

- Spare prescription eye glasses/contact lenses

- Cameras and related paraphernalia like lenses etc and plenty of memory cards and spare batteries

- Sunscreen with high SPF factor
- Small purse size umbrella can come in handy
- A supply of Ziploc bags in different sizes may come in handy for dust or water proofing cameras , wet bathing suits etc.
- Chargers for cell phones, iPads, cameras, computers and you may want to invest in a mini travel charger surge protector with dual USB ports and five charging outlets.
